Your responsibilities

 

In Wilhelmshaven Uniper operates Germany’s first FSRU-based LNG-Terminal through its affiliated company “LNG Terminal Wilhelmshaven GmbH” (LTeW)
As Permitting and Site Engineer for this LNG Terminal you are responsible for planning, overseeing and managing technical, permitting and operations projects as well as supporting our operations team in Wilhelmshaven.
 

Engineering

  • Develop, plan and implement terminal and FSRU related projects, including leading small project teams, external consultants, service provider etc. with focus on the concept to optimize biofouling prevention
  • Execute and supervise all defined engineering tasks for the LNG terminal on site, ensure that projects are completed on time & within budget and quality standards
  • Active participation in management of change (MOC) process and HAZOPs/HAZIDs
  • Profound knowledge of IED – Industrial Emissions Directive (“BImSchG”), in particular Seveso II directive (“Stoerfallverordnung - 12. BImSchV”) and federal act for combustion plants (e.g. 13. BImSchV and 44. BImSchV)

Permitting

  • Act as incident, immissions control, and water protection commissioner (“Beauftragter”)
  • Responsible for permit management and authority engineering, tracking of requirements with regard to applicable permits and permitting conditions (i.a. BImSchG and water law („WHG“)); 
  • Control of the monitoring of specified limits and threshold values including among others water monitoring, air pollutions and water testing for quality or cross checks; regular FSRU Data Evaluation to control discharge conditions and coordination of preservation of evidence and monitoring measures (air and water) 
  • Interface to the supervisory authorities, coordination of commissioned external experts and representatives of the authorities 
  • Organise and prepare authority audits, participate in fire drills with private and public fire brigades, etc.
  • Preparation and coordination of amendments to existing permits, (re-)negotiation of existing and new requirements
  • Preparation of internal and external reports and official notifications
  • Environmental: Support and manage initial or amendments to EIA (“UVP”); assess consequences of MOC processes for the existing permitting regime from an environmental point of view

Miscellaneous

  • Leading the terminal vetting process
  • Support the Site Managers in management of the interface with FSRU Operator for LNG Cargo unloading, LNG regasification, gas delivery including call-off duty for terminal operation
  • Basic knowledge of Waste Management Act (“KrWG”)
  • Input to document and quality management systems used within the organisation.
 

 

Your profile


  • University/academic degree in civil, mechanical or process engineering or comparable education
  • 5+ years of proven experience and technical competence for terminal and/or plant operation including the sound knowledge of plant/terminal/harbour processes;
  • Ideally, competence in naval engineering, ship management, ship loading/discharging and harbour and plant operations
  • Ideally training as incident, emissions, and/or water protection commissioner (“Beauftragter”); special trainings can be provided;
  • Ideally experience in authority engineering and permitting processes
  • Extensive understanding of relevant German legislation and industry standards, health, safety, security, and environmental requirements
  • Profound knowledge of Federal Water Act (WHG) combined with competencies regarding technologies for process and wastewater treatment and seawater discharge
  • Profound knowledge of water chemistry and chemical reactions
  • Demonstrated managerial capabilities, performance-oriented attitude, ability to cope with unforeseen events and to take decisions under pressure and uncertainty;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage performance and motivate both individuals and teams
  • Advanced knowledge of general IT skills and functioning of relevant apps such as MS Office (Excel, Word, MSTeams, etc.), SAP, etc.
  • Local footprint or willingness to move into the North of Germany close to Wilhelmshaven
  • Fluent in German and English
