HSSE Team Leader CDCPK

An exciting opportunity to lead HSSE strategy, assurance and culture across Cottam Development Centre (CDC), Pipelines and Killingholme (CDCPK). This role provides senior functional leadership across three geographically distributed operational areas, supporting safe, secure and environmentally responsible performance in a complex, high-hazard environment while helping CDCPK deliver its future ambitions. The role reports to the CDCPK Production Manager.

Your responsibilities

•    Define and deliver CDCPK HSSE strategy, governance and assurance across CDC, Pipelines and Killingholme, translating legislation, Uniper standards, industry best practice and differing site risk profiles into prioritised action.
•    Provide senior functional leadership, coaching and challenge so leaders, teams, action owners and contractors demonstrate clear HSSE ownership.
•    Set HSSE control standards, assurance priorities and risk tolerances across operations, maintenance, outages and projects, ensuring that everyone has the authority to stop any task that cannot be carried out safely.
•    Own risk-based HSSE performance management, using KPIs, audits, inspections, incidents, trends and external requirements to drive improvement and verify corrective action.
•    Assure statutory and regulatory compliance across CDCPK, including UKETS, CSRD, emergency arrangements, Legionella control, safe systems of work and environmental management requirements.
•    Lead significant investigations, root-cause analysis and verified corrective action through SynergiLife, escalating high-potential events and material compliance gaps as required.
•    Drive ‘Beyond Zero’, human performance, learning and continuous improvement activity to strengthen HSSE culture across employees, contractors and operational leaders.
•    Represent and promote CDCPK with central HSSE, governance and external assurance teams, influencing standards, escalating material risks and converting identified requirements into practical controls and accountable action plans.

Your profile

•    NEBOSH Diploma plus chartered status, or equivalent senior HSSE leadership experience in high-hazard operations.
•    Expert knowledge of UK HSSE legal, regulatory, management-system, assurance and operational-risk requirements.
•    Proven functional leadership capability, including coaching, influencing, challenging and securing ownership without direct line authority.
•    Credibility to challenge senior stakeholders and influence decisions with material HSSE, legal, financial, reputational or operational impact.
•    Experience leading HSSE governance, assurance, investigations, audits, risk-based improvement, performance management and verified corrective action.
•    Ability to lead culture change through visible leadership, our ‘Beyond Zero’ mindset, human performance, learning and continuous improvement approaches.
•    Strong analytical judgement, communication, planning, stakeholder-management and report-writing skills.
•    Ability to convert complex external and internal requirements into practical controls, behaviours, standards and accountable action plans across multiple operational settings.
