Chartered Civil / Structural Engineer
The Civil and Structural Engineering Team at Uniper Technologies are working on varied and exciting new projects and as such want to expand and enhance its capabilities. Projects range from feasibility studies and front end engineering design for green hydrogen facilities and new combined cycle gas fired power plant fitted with carbon capture and storage to decommissioning and demolition works of existing assets. This role will play a significant contribution to assisting Uniper to achieve its Zero Carbon future.

Your responsibilities
• We are looking for you to bolster and enhance the teams design, project management and consultancy capability by bringing your Civil / Structural engineering skills onboard.
• You will join as part of a fast moving team, and will work on varied and interesting projects involving a selection of both office based activities and occasional site based working.
• You will enjoy the variety that very few roles can offer including, site investigations, project development through the design and tendering phases and providing technical support during the construction of new power stations and low carbon facilities.
• You may also have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of structures and structural design to existing gas fired power stations, where you would undertake structural appraisalsinspection of structures and assist with either assessing the condition of the asset or be involved with plant modifications or major repairs.

• Your goals will be to deliver engineering solutions safely, on time and to budget that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
Current Projects
Some current projects to give an idea of the scope involve a number of new power generation plant developments ranging from new biomass boilers to green hydrogen plant front end engineering design studies, feasibility studies for retrofitting carbon capture and storage on an existing plant. In addition, there is the potential to support the operation and maintenance of a wide range of power generating plant including gas and coal fired power stations, wind turbines and energy from waste plants. As such the work tends to be highly diverse, interesting, and therefore requires a broad range of civil and structural engineering skills and experience.
Your profile
• Chartered Engineer ( MICE or MIStructE).
• Demonstrable experience within Civil/Structural Engineering and with a broad design background in the design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
• Proven experience in developing projects from concept through to detailed design stage.
• Ability to produce technical specifications and scope of work documents.
• You will possess excellent analytical skills and be able to identify design improvements at all stages of project development.
• Ability to clearly communicate to both design engineers and project directors on technical matters in a written form and verbally.
• Project management experience and ability to manage others both internally and external consultants. Manage time and budgets and be able to critically identify areas which require improvement.
• Experience of design software such as TEDDS, Trimble Structural, STAAD Pro, or similar design packages and competent with the Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD.
• Full Driving License is required, along with willingness to travel to customer sites throughout the UK.
• Hybrid working with two to three days per week in the Nottingham office
Desirable:
• Experience in large industrial projects, with experience in either the Petrochemicals or Power Generation.
• Experience of being involved with project development, undertaking the Owners Engineer role and the design of medium sized industrial buildings would be beneficial.
• Ability to produce well written technical reports based on site inspections on a range of structural forms and ages.
