Your responsibilities

 

The 48-52 week placement is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the COO Digital Evolution teams. A major part of this role will be the new development, maintenance and upgrading of key products and software that are critical to both the company and industry. Platform solutions range across tools monitoring and predicting power generation asset health, and optimising business and asset performance, to risk management and market modelling.

 

Live projects include harnessing generative AI techniques to surface meaning from the deep engineering knowledge in thousands of technical reports written over the many decades of our business, and bringing computer vision and augmented reality to how we support plant inspections and deliver services in industrial environments.

 

As part of the placement, you’ll be working alongside software engineers, data scientists, creatives and a vast array of domain experts. Combined with getting a mentor and technical training, the placement will allow you to develop significantly over the course of your time with Uniper. There may also be the opportunity for international travel.

 

We are open to a hybird working model for this placement, the exact frequency/expectations can be discussed with the hiring manager at interview stage.

 

 

Your profile


To be a part of this area, you’ll need to be studying a Computer Science or closely related degree. You should have an understanding of working with web applications, full stack software engineering and agile development.

Key activities will include:

  • Maintenance & Support of the software, infrastructure, environment & deployment pipelines for the digital platforms;
  • Working with colleagues & teams across Uniper to create a world-class platform for our power generation and energy storage assets;
  • Service desk support;
  • Software development of new digital solutions;
  • UX design opportunities;
  • Working in a DevOps environment to complete bug fixes and enhancements.

You’ll ideally hold experience with;

  • Programming skills – Python, .NET Framework or similar
  • JavaScript libaries – React or similar
  • Snowflake, Cosmos & SQL databases
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Microservices

What you will gain from the Placement

  • DevOps and Agile methodology and working practices;
  • Programming, Kubernetes, Docker, database and cloud skills;
  • Working on industrial-scale AI and ML projects.
  • Communication and soft skills working in a commercial environment;
  • Experience in the energy sector and digital engineering.
