Integrity Engineer

For this role, we are looking for a qualified engineer with experience in providing office and site based technical support on pressure systems integrity.

Your responsibilities
• Provide technical support and advice to clients in the area of pressure systems integrity.
• Development of risk-based inspection strategies.
• Perform site visits to carry out plant inspections of components such as pipework, pressure vessels and castings / forgings.
• Assess the integrity of components such as pipework, pressure vessels, and castings / forgings that are subject to degradation mechanisms such as creep, fatigue, corrosion and flow accelerated corrosion, in order to make run / repair / replace decisions.
• Carry out activities associated with our Pressure Systems (Safety) Regulations Competent Person role .
• Support and assist in the development of other team members as required.
• Produce high quality, formal technical reports, on time and within budget.
• Be an ambassador for nurturing internal stakeholder relationships and identifying future business needs.
Your profile
• Sufficient educational or vocational qualifications / experience to carry out the role safely and effectively.
• To be, or have the prerequisites to be, a chartered member of a relevant institution, or have an equivalent recognised professional qualification.
• Familiarity with power and / or petrochemical plant.
• Knowledge of degradation mechanisms relevant to power plant pressure systems.
• Ability to plan and manage a portfolio of jobs to cost, quality and time.
• Possess drive, energy and commitment with a history of delivering to tight deadlines.
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships.
• Ability to work effectively and flexibly, working away from home on occasion at sites both within the UK and overseas, typically for short periods of time.
• Commercially aware.
• A high technical standard of written and spoken English, including report writing.
• High level of IT Literacy to support technical analysis.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of pressure systems statutory outages; planning, site inspection and metallography, interpretation, component assessment and reporting.
• Familiarity with power plant operations and maintenance.
• Knowledge of relevant pressure part design standards, industry guidance and legislation, e.g., Pressure Systems Safety Regulations, Pressure Equipment Directive, SAFed and GENSIP Guidance.
• Knowledge of any disciplines that impact pressure part integrity such as welding, cycle chemistry, quality control, boiler structures or plant operational behaviour.
• Awareness of NDT techniques applicable to pressure system components.
• Positive approach to change and contributes to the culture of continuous improvement.
• Ability to co-ordinate work across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to recognise and take advantage of business opportunities.
