Head of Future Fuel Infrastructure Engineering (f/m/d)

 As Head of Future Fuel Infrastructure Engineering, you will lead an international department of approximately 35 process and mechanical engineering professionals organized in 5 multiple expert teams located in Gelsenkirchen, Ratcliffe and Rotterdam. You will set the strategic direction for the department and ensure that its capabilities, resources and technical standards support Uniper's evolving project portfolio. You will lead, develop and continuously improve the department in line with Uniper's project and business requirements. Representing the department within the wider Engineering organization, you will provide engineering leadership and support for projects involving the production, treatment, metering, transport and storage of natural gas, LNG and hydrogen, the generation of green hydrogen and ammonia, as well as carbon capture and CO₂ treatment solutions. Your responsibilities

• Champion  a strong occupational and process safety culture and ensure HSE requirements  and Safety by Design principles are embedded throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Support projects from the early development phase, through concept to detailed engineering as well as construction and commissioning activities through technical advice and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical guidance to project developers, project managers and engineering teams to identify optimal technical solutions and appropriate engineering scopes.
• Manage capacity planning, resource allocation and staffing through internal and external engineering resources.
• Foster a culture of performance, accountability, collaboration and Owner's Engineering excellence.
• Ensure the effective application of engineering methods, design tools, standards and lessons learned.
• Build a sustainable talent pipeline through recruiting, coaching, knowledge management and succession planning.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across  Engineering and within the wider New Green Power and Gas Leadership Team to drive multidisciplinary engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

Your profile

• Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Energyor a related engineering discipline).
• Significant leadership experience within engineering organizations in the energy, oil & gas, chemicals, LNG, hydrogen or CCUS sectors.
• Extensive experience in large capital projects across project development, FEED, EPC/EPCM and commissioning phases incl. process safety and risk management.
• Strong understanding of future energy systems and infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex stakeholder environments.
• Experience with major project governance frameworks and engineering assurance processes.
• Strong knowledge across hydrogen and green molecule infrastructure, gas transportation (i. e. pipeline) and storage systems, LNG liquefaction and regasification facilities, ammonia infrastructure, carbon capture and CO₂ transport systems, process facilities and industrial plants.
• The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking and strong business acumen with excellent communication and influencing skills. Leading in a collaborative way, able to manage complexity and drive change, and bring strong coaching and people development capabilities while demonstrating a clear commitment to safety, integrity and inclusion.
• Fluent English is required for this role. German language skills are advantageous, and additional European languages are considered a plus.
