Your responsibilities

 

  • Leading a team of highly skilled risk managers with the goal of managing market risk of Uniper’s Power portfolio 
  • Being the direct counterpart to the Power Commercial leaders and support the active management of Uniper’s power asset portfolio 
  • Keeping abreast of power market developments (prices, regulatory changes etc) and their impact on the power asset portfolio
  • Facilitating the understanding of exposures across the power portfolio in order to gain an accurate representation of the commodity risks and create a bettervalue via portfolio steering
  • Ensuring that economic portfolio actions are in line with important group wide considerations (Strategy, Regulation, Portfolio Construction, Credit, Financingetc.)
  • Enabling disciplined strategic growth initiatives and steer new business approvals
  • Providing deal structuring support for complex and potentially long term contracts, ensuring that difficult to value elements such as physical optionality are properly reported. Ensure that these deals are valued in accordance with financial and management accounting requirements
  • Expressing recommendations to senior executives and relevant decision making committees (e.g. risk committee).
  • Influencing company policies and business directives to remain relevant and effective in a fast changing market environment
  • Continuing develop risk management capabilities to generate value for Uniper in line with external best practice knowledge 
     
 

 

Your profile


  • University degree, preferably with a concentration in Business or Finance/MBA
  • Ideally at least 10 years’ experience preferably in the international energy commodities’ or other traded markets. To excel in this role, you need to have strong analytical and research skills, and a broader understanding of the industry. Knowledge of market risk concepts and statistics is a must
  • Deep and proven expertise in various aspects of Risk Management
  • Detailed knowledge and passion for the European Gas, Power and other global markets 
  • Strong strategic yet analytical orientation and ability to manage across multiple interfaces such as traders, quant methods, risk reporting, legal, compliance,credit, back office, etc.
  • Ability to simplify & streamline complex content into quickly and easily understandable concepts/messages
  • A track record of successfully supporting and leading strategic business change projects
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high performance teams and inspire others to achieve
  • Strong communicator and high commercially aware
  • Ability to cultivate strong positive working relationships internally and external
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English
