Your responsibilities

This is a new role within Gas Trading within which a new Systematic Trading desk is being set up. An opportunity has arisen for a high calibre individual to join this desk. The trader will report to Head of Systematic Trading and work as part of the team in developing and executing systematic trading strategies to generate PnL.  The mandates will cover multiple commodities which are currently being traded within UGC including gas, oil, power, carbon, coal and freight. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the Head of Systematic Trading in setting up and developing processes for the systematic trading desk
• Drive innovation and iterative improvement on trading strategies/algorithms to maximise PnL
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders, both within and outside the team, on strategy concepts and technical implementation
• Own risk management and  construct strategy performance metrics to alert trends and navigate macro event risks
   

Your profile

The likely profile of the ideal candidate is as following:

• Bachelor’s or (preferably higher) degrees in subjects with strong mathematical contents
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in trading or trading related activities in commodities market or other financial markets
• Enjoy connecting trading, quantitative analysis, and technology to unlock new business opportunities
• Experience and track-record in devising and implementing profitable non-discretionary trading strategies. Validate decisions in a data-driven manner and react fast to changing market conditions
• Demonstrated self-starter, with can-do attitude to learn new thing and push through change to deliver results
• Advanced coding skills to process and analyze large sets of data. Python is a plus
