PES Machinist Team Member

Working in a dedicated team of Turbine and Generation Equipment Specialists to deliver complex customer solution to existing customers and new customers in different sectors of the energy market at our Engineering Workshops located in Hams Hall, near Birmingham.

Your responsibilities

 

  • You will carry out machining activities associated with Steam Turbines. Examples include:
    • Operation of large lathes machining components up to 50 tonnes.
    • Operation of large boring machining components up to 50 tonnes.
    • Operation of manual and CNC lathes and milling machines.
  • You are competent to program CNC machines in line with drawing and tolerance requirements
  • You will work to PES Safety procedures and support our Zero Harm Journey . This will include complying with Method Statements, Risks Assessments, and ‘Point of Work’ Risk Assessments.
  • You can demonstrate competence in reading and understand engineering drawings.
  • Keeping accurate records and completing Quality documentation for all work including complex internal and customer protocol sheets.
 

 

Your profile


Essential:

  • Completed a relevant recognised craft based apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 standard or equivalent.
  • Be able to operate large machines and produce accurate work on components up to 50 tonnes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet challenging targets.
  • Confident to work with Quality systems.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment management systems.
  • Seeks guidance and advice from others within the team.


Desirable:

  • Educated to relevant B/TEC national Certificate status or with equivalent relevant experience.
  • Able to demonstrate specialist craft skills over a wider area of the Workshop.
  • To have basic IT skills.
