Senior Business Program Manager UK

As a pivotal colleague to the commercial UK Power Trading teams, the job holder will translate business strategies into actionable roadmaps with a dedicated focus on Renewables, Short Term Trading, and Dispatch. By deeply understanding the commercial objectives, this leader will drive impactful growth and innovation within the power trading sector.

Your responsibilities

 

Strategic focus and programme delivery

  • Understand the UK commercial trading strategies and contribute the technology and IT focus therein
  • Create the Technology Roadmap based on the CT30 Strategy alongside the other Commercial Technology functions
  • Manage the Business Change of the strategic projects including prioritization and scope mgmt on behalf of the desk heads
  • Program and Project Management of large IT projects.
  • Set prioritization for the IT Programme/ Project Managers including financial planning with a strategic focus on the MTP
  • Accountable that IT delivers the projects within budget, time and quality/scope constraints – and to other variables as agreed with stakeholders and ensuring Business buy in and support
  • Responsible for ensuring arrangements are in place for business readiness to accept the delivered change, including training, communications and any modifications to business process and/or organisational design
  • Ensures effective Project Sponsorship and Steering mechanisms are in place through the project lifecycle
  • Acts as a leader who contributes towards the development of the wider team and project management function and its procedures and policies
  • Responsible for agreeing the correct project delivery methodology and governance within individual projects with all project stakeholders.
  • Leads & motivates a team responsible for requirements gathering, business analysis, impact assessment, system design & specification, technical documentation, code delivery, system testing, UAT, implementation, business acceptance and handover to support teams including any infrastructure requests for the project being delivered by the Uniper IT outsourced partners

Stakeholder Management

  • Senior Commercial stakeholder mgmt (Board, L1 and L2) – status reporting and prioritization of critical IT deliveries to enable the Commercial Strategy
  • Liaison & negotiation directly with the other key commercial areas in order to understand business strategies and their wide impact on the Technology Roadmap
  • Required to build strong relationships in the operational businesses and working with them to initiate, shape and deliver systems change
 

 

Your profile


  • Deep understanding of the UK Power Markets including front to end processes and technologies. Special focus on Short Term Trading, Renewables Assets and Dispatch
  • Strong academic record, most likely with graduate level education
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Able to establish, maintain and develop effective relationships with Senior Executives
  • Able to establish, maintain and develop effective relationships with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Good financial and commercial awareness
  • Ability to identify, communicate and solve complex problems.
  • Experience of multi million and multi-year IT program delivery in the energy sector
  • Demonstrable competence in managing and leading teams, including those over which there is no direct line management accountability
  • Experience of managing change projects (up to £15m investment) in a fast changing business environment
  • Good understanding of formal Project Management method(s), tools and techniques
  • An understanding of specialist skills required within a project team e.g. Business Analysis, Design, Development, Testing
  • Experience of using Microsoft Project or equivalent planning tool
  • Experience of having delivered software development projects in a fast changing business environment
  • Experience of Agile systems development principles
  • Commercial experience in the Power sector would be desirable
