Digital Transformation Analyst Undergraduate

Working in Energy Assets means you're not just creating slides-you're contributing to the operation of real power plants and critical energy infrastructure. Your work directly supports keeping the lights on, advancing digitalisation, and enabling the energy transition across Europe. Digitalisation in our context goes beyond implementing new tools. It involves improving existing processes, increasing transparency of performance, and enabling better, data-driven decision-making across our assets. This is not a typical placement focused on reporting or documentation. You will be building real tools used by engineers and decision-makers, gaining hands-on experience at the intersection of energy, data, and modern digital development. We believe the future is moving towards fast, AI-enabled development ("vibe coding"), where the ability to learn, adapt, and deliver quickly matters more than mastering a single tool. Your responsibilities

 

  • Design and build digital dashboards and tools that directly support decision-making across real power plants and energy assets 
  • Work hands-on with operational data—connecting, cleaning, and transforming data from multiple systems into meaningful insights 
  • Develop lightweight applications, prototypes, and web-based tools to solve real business problems quickly and effectively 
  • Collaborate with engineers and site teams to understand challenges and translate them into simple, practical digital solutions 
  • Improve existing processes by increasing transparency, reducing manual effort, and enabling better performance tracking 
  • Take ownership of tasks and ideas—moving from concept to a working solution within short timeframes, with support when needed 
  • Contribute to a fast-evolving digital environment where experimentation, iteration, and learning are encouraged 
  • The role can be based at either our Birmingham or Nottingham office
 

 

Your profile


Essential 

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform / Power BI and a good understanding of data visualisation principles  
  • Basic knowledge of HTML (and ideally some exposure to how web applications are structured)  
  • Strong interest in building solutions—not just analysing data, but creating tools that people actually use  
  • A fast learner who is comfortable picking up new technologies, frameworks, or tools when required  
  • A proactive, self-driven mindset—you take initiative and enjoy figuring things out independently  
  • Ability to think in a structured way and break down problems into practical, deliverable solutions  
  • Curiosity about modern development approaches, including “vibe coding”—rapidly building and iterating solutions using AI-assisted tools 

 

Desirable 

  • Interest in AI tools and how they can accelerate development and problem-solving  
  • Understanding of how digitalisation can improve business processes, efficiency, and decision-making  
  • Willingness to occasionally visit operational sites to gain real-world context
