Structural Analysis Engineer
Uniper needs an individual with knowledge and experience of undertaking structural integrity assessment work in the Power Generation sector, or equivalent. We welcome any candidate who wishes to contribute to our safety record in the management of pressure systems and rotating equipment, both gas and steam turbines, and towards methods of maintaining their reliability and extending their operating life. This role contains ample opportunity for individuals to demonstrate creative problem solving approaches in a field where numerous engineering subjects come together to deliver solutions.

Your task
The successful candidate will be expected to be responsible for:
- Delivering structural integrity related assessments to the business.
- Supporting the development of projects in tandem with other team members.
- Working with a high degree of autonomy including the execution, if required, of any and all computer modelling, independent calculations and produce written reports, to a high standard of English containing the appropriate advice.
- Proactively driving through projects to completion.
- Liaising with customers and colleagues, such as inspection teams, to obtain necessary information for the assessments.
- Delivering projects and work assignments to time and quality and within an agreed budget.
- Providing assessment of defective components, which may include, but is not restricted to: pressure vessels pipework, headers and drums, valve bodies, steam chests, rotors, blades, gas turbine components .
Your profile

Essential
- Strong analytical skills in the area of structural integrity and fracture mechanics assessments (ideally R6/R5, or equivalent, e.g. API‑579/ASME FFS-1, BS 7910 and/or associated software packages).
- Experience in the application of both creep and fatigue crack growth approaches.
- A demonstrated history in the supply of Fitness For Service assessments, ideally in the Power Generation Industry, or equivalent sectors.
- Experience of using finite element (ideally Abaqus), or the ability to develop this skill quickly within the role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the preparation of detailed technical reports and presentations.
- Experience of working independently.
- Experience of liaising with NDT/Welding specialists/Metallurgists to deliver assessments of defective components.
- Experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

Desirable: - Knowledge of Gas Turbine component integrity and assessment techniques.
- Advanced practitioner of finite element analysis (Abaqus).
