Mechanical Engineer
You will deliver an efficient and effective preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance service to the plant on behalf of the Engineering team, ensuring maintenance is delivered safely, with quality, to a defined plan and in compliance with work controls

Your responsibilities
What we are looking for
- Manage delivery of preventive maintenance as defined by the maintenance strategy team and in line with contract management and work planning & scheduling processes
- Manage delivery of corrective maintenance within the required timescales determined by the risk and in line with contract management and work planning & scheduling processes
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the maintenance management system through the job plan improvement and failure reporting and corrective action system (FRACAS) processes and conduct root cause problem solving where required
- Develop and manage the budget required to deliver maintenance in area of responsibility
- Manage and contribute to the improvement of safety performance including regular audits of the work control management process
- Design and delivery of low and medium risk technical improvement projects
- Network and benchmark outside of Enfield, Grain and Taylors Lane Power Stations to ensure that best practice is employed in area of responsibility
- Support the development of apprentices and resident contractors

Who we are seeking
Essential requirements
- An HNC or engineering craft based qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent with appropriate industrial experience.
- A broad understanding of Power Station operations.
- A broad knowledge and experience of maintenance activities in an engineering skill spanning more than one plant area.
- Knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the management of the Station and which are relevant to the role.
- A good working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation and standards to IOSH or equivalent.
- Fault finding and problem solving skills
- Planning and organising skills to include effective prioritising, resource management and a long term strategic focus.
Desirable requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
- Financial and commercial awareness associated with the activities of the role.
- Undertake roles under Electrical and Mechanical safety rules.
- A working knowledge of key PC based computer systems.
- Contract management training to be able to run a number of contracts which involve on site working to include the health, safety and environmental aspects as well as the commercial and technical issues.
- Trained and competent in safety assessment by producing such documents as risk assessments, method statements, manual handling, hot work assessments etc.
- Understanding and use of Operational Excellence principles and tools
