Your responsibilities
- Manage margining risk arising from a cross-commodities portfolio: Analyse exposures, synergies, diversification and concentration risk
- Good knowledge of Initial and Variation margining calculation methodology and clearing house requirements
- Provide insight best practice to steer margining risk as well risk evaluation models like Initial Margin model, Margin at Risk model
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of margining portfolio movements, develop forecasts and identify key drivers
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with commodity trading desks and provide recommendations to optimize the current portfolio and steer business initiatives
- Conduct scenario analysis and simulation by actively collaborating with the quantitative team to further develop methods for risk assessment
- Manage margining requirements per value pool, optimization recommendation and present the status of the risk portfolios to senior management and trading functions across the organisation
- Understand front to end processes and work effectively across all levels of the organization to challenge, promote dialogue and drive cooperation
Your profile
- Academic background (Finance / Business / Quantitative / Mathematics), with strong analytical skills
- Several years of experience, ideally in an energy trading firm / bank, as margining risk analyst or portfolio analyst
- Experience in working with Variation Margin, Initial Margin, Spot Margining and Delivery Margin, VaR, as well quantifying and pricing margining risk and clearing requirements
- Cross commodity market knowledge and exchange clearing: power, gas, oil, CO2, coal
- Strong technical skills: proficiency in Excel, analytical tools. Experience in VBA or SQL programming is a plus
- Self-starter, well organised, with the ability to think independently and proactively to drive work streams through to completion
- Strong team player with the ability to establish solid inter-departmental relationships
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with Senior Management
