Head of Solar UK

We are looking for a Head of Solar UK to oversee the Acquisition and Partnerships venture of Uniper Renewables in the UK and RoI.

Your responsibilities

 

We are looking for a Head of Solar UK to oversee the Acquisition and Partnerships venture of Uniper Renewables in the UK and RoI. Please note we are flexible with the location of this role within the UK. 

 

  • Actively lead the Company’s objectives by delivering profitable partnerships/acquisitions of Utility-Scale Solar projects
  • Originate business relationships and close partnerships with external partners (developers, financial advisors, etc.), as well as Greenfield projects
  • Manage a team of Business Development managers and Developers as well as cross-functionally manages project teams of various sizes.
  • Lead investment cases/negotiations with Partners in view of Acquiring projects’ portfolio from Origination to Ready-to-build status: Monitorsand interpret technical and relevant regulatory developments and standards and is able to deliver technical and non-technical reports to stakeholders.
  • Develop the Market strategy
  • Ensures full and effective reporting on all projects, for example in achieving relevant presentations and business cases to senior management to obtain agreement on acquisitions/partnerships.
  • Represents the Company to outside partners, including during events, conferences and on panels.
 

 

Your profile


Essential

  • Capacity to originate opportunities: Good network in the industry (developers, suppliers, technical and legal advisors, financial advisors, etc.).
  • Ability to create and maintain a network of partners
  • Experience in undertaking detailed due diligence of projects from a technology and commercial perspective.
  • Understand the commercial requirements for renewable energy projects.
  • Strong Negotiation skills and proven capacity to negotiate and close business contracts.
  • Project management skills: strong attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and managing Long-term projects on a day-to-day basis, particularly in acquisition / due diligence.
  • Leading by influence: the capacity to manage colleagues from different backgrounds outside of the immediate team.
  • Understanding and use of financial tools/ economic models: capacity to develop innovative, profitable business models
  • Very good communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
  • Ability to think outside the box to identify new opportunities
  • Strong up-to-date knowledge of the Project development steps, including Permitting,  for Utility-scale solar projects from land acquisition to Ready-to-build status
  • Understanding of complex financial models
  • Willingness to travel

Desirable:

  • Degree in renewable energy, business and commerce, environmental management, planning, engineering or comparable studies
  • Experience in other renewable technologies such as wind, BESS hydrogen or hydro
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the UK network issues, constraints, policies and ability to analyse grid connection issues to enable targeted site selection.
  • Understand and be able to use wind and solar design softwares
  • Member of a renewable energy industry trade body or relevant professional body e.g. RTPI, RICS
