Uniper's combined business unit of Cottam Development Centre (CDC) gas-fired power plant, Pipelines network and Killingholme gas-fired power station, collectively operating as CDCPK, is looking for a 1 year fixed term support role in the areas of Health, Safety and Security (HSS). You will assist us with strategic project work to deliver our safety standards and legal requirements into practical implementation and performance monitoring. It is an exciting time for the CDCPK business with a key role to play in safely delivering security of electricity supply in the UK, whilst developing new project opportunities for the transition to the decarbonised energy of the future that support our journey to a zero carbon future.

What we are looking for

  • Lead the development and implementation of Health, Safety and Security (HSS) initiatives and procedures to engage the team in best practice delivery of our HSS standards and legal requirements across day-to-day, projects and outage activities.
  • Work with the senior leadership team to create site based HSS initiatives across CDCPK, deliver the Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Forum and HSSE Management Reviews, and play a central role in internal and external audits, site emergency plan testing and HSS system reviews.
  • Responsibility to collate and evaluate HSS key performance indicators (KPIs) to report into site and fleet performance reviews and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead and support the team in incident investigation through the application of recognised models to identify root causes and identify recommendations to prevent re-occurrence, sharing HSSE Learnings across the Business and ensuring timely closeout of actions through company reporting and knowledge sharing systems.
  • Create and promote continuous improvement initiatives to shape flexible working, wellbeing and bring our company’s ‘Beyond Zero’ safety philosophy to life for CDCPK.
  • Operate as CDCPK’s contact point to central Uniper health, safety and security teams, engaging with group initiatives & reporting and managing threats & risks.

 

 

Who we are seeking

Essential

  • Educated to a HNC/degree level or equivalent, or with equivalent extensive and relevant experience.
  • Practical experience (e.g. contractor safety management, site safety officer, etc) of managing a range of health, safety and security aspects in an operational work environment, with a minimum of IOSH qualification equivalent or above.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence colleagues, stakeholders and contractors, working across functions and across teams to achieve results.
  • The confidence to challenge established practices and suggest imaginative solutions.
  • A demonstrable track record of monitoring and reporting performance and applying continuous improvement techniques to enhance performance/systems.
  • Planning and organising skills to include effective prioritisation, people engagement and a long term strategic focus.
