Position Overview

 

Uniper Global Commodities North America LLC (UGCNA) is seeking a Director of Commercial Structuring & Pricing who will be responsible for delivering a high performing level of service to the origination & portfolio teams across the major power and fuels markets in North America.  This role is charged with delivering timely and accurate pricing and structures along with commercial insight to support the marketing and origination efforts in Uniper’s key markets. This role will collaborate with the portfolio, risk, data management and operations teams to actively take part in the overall deal lifecycle from idea generation to execution and delivery.   The incumbent is tasked with steering each valuation in an accurate, efficient, and timely fashion to support the long-term development of Uniper’s asset-backed business.

 

Responsibilities

 

Delivery of timely and accurate structuring and pricing to commercial team with functional responsibility including data acquisition and validation in support of complex contract booking

Development of standardized complex structures to streamline valuation process

Development of cost methodology and maintaining curves for traded & non-traded costs

Collaborate with analytics to incorporate Uniper market views in order to enhance competitiveness of deal proposals

Work closely with portfolio managers & traders to ensure accurate curves for live pricing requests

Enhance load forecasting capabilities with analytics & real time desk

Manage requests from multiple internal stakeholders and prioritize workflow according to business needs

Establish & maintain high standards of professionalism and quantitative rigor

Help train and develop rising talent

 

 

 

Who we are seeking

 

Qualifications & Requirements

 

Degree in quantitative field; advanced studies preferred

Minimum of five years of experience structuring and pricing energy and environmental commodity market products

Experience with physical markets preferred, particularly in economic dispatch, generation commitment and load management

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to create detailed, accurate, and defensible models

Commercially minded with ability to readily identify market opportunities

Must have strong work ethic and self-discipline

Familiarity with long-term fundamental models such as Aurora, Prosym, Promod, PLEXOS, Velocity, PowerWorld, or other tools a plus

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required

Proficiency with industry-standard programming language or statistical package highly preferred

Strong oral and written communication skills required

Should be a self-starter, adaptive and versatile, able to work effectively in a team setting

Able to prioritize tasks based on potential commercial impacts under aggressive deadlines

 

This position will be in either Houston, Texas or Chicago, Illinois and report to the Head of Analytics.  Actual position title and compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
