The ONE Team Renewables Fortum/Uniper is responsible for the development of the solar-PV and wind-onshore business of Fortum and Uniper, predominantly in Europe. The renewables business is one of the most important pillars of our joint strategic ambitions. Our aim is to deliver more than 1 GW growth p.a. by 2025. As we build our new renewables business we are looking for a one year fixed term contractor (part-time) for our Energy Offtake team who has extensive experience of negotiating and selling power through PPAs.

What we are looking for

The Energy Offtake team is responsible for securing routes to market for the renewable energy we produce and selling the power under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).  Energy Offtake is a new team and so there is plenty of opportunity to work on topics and pick up activities that you find interesting.  A flexible, hands on approach will be much appreciated.   The successful candidate will undertake the typical tasks as outlined below:


  • Securing the energy offtake solutions for 1 GW plus of renewables projects p.a. to facilitate attractive project economics and open-up opportunities for disposal of projects to investors
  • Assessing and determining the optimal strategy for the route to market for the energy and certificates from new renewable assets per European country
  • Creating a pipeline of market offtakers (local Utilities, corporate offtakers, etc)
  • Structuring, origination and negotiation of power purchase agreements in close cooperation with both Fortum & Uniper’s Origination and Energy Sales teams where relevant
  • Coordinating the participation at regulatory tenders for subsidies (e.g. FiT or CfD) together with the developer and market analysis teams
  • Optimal cooperation within the ONE Team Renewables, consisting of developers, engineers, project, contract and offtake managers, market and strategy analysts as well as a network of external partners



Who we are seeking


  • Proven track record of Renewable PPAs executed and Green Certificate Trades with extensive negotiation experience
  • Expertise in energy trading and sales, as well as commercial contract negotiations
  • Deep understanding of the renewable energy market, with a focus on regulatory remuneration schemes as well as market commercialization of utility scale wind and solar-PV
  • Applicants should be flexible on travel as some team meetings will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany
  • The role will be hybrid working and will be a combination of home working and the occasion working in the Birmingham office along with the occasional trip to our Head Office in Dusseldorf.
  • The role is offered on a fixed term contract basis and is open to both full and part time working hours.
