Senior Project Communications Specialist

Can you help us deliver great proactive and reactive communication to support Uniper's projects? We're looking for an excellent communicator, with experience of project development communications, to join our team

Your responsibilities

 

  • In this role you will, develop and implement proactive communication plans to support UK development and demolition activity and strategic projects, that require a planning application/local stakeholder engagement – working with project teams, and community relations agencies (where appropriate), to develop our messaging. Seeking the appropriate approvals.
  • You’ll work with the Senior Press Officer and wider UK Corporate Communications & Government Relations team  to develop appropriate messaging for the national, local and regional media, internal comms and social media. To include project Q&A for reactive response and press releases and intranet articles.
  • You’ll need to build close connections to relevant internal project teams to build and maintain knowledge of our strategic projects, and to provide communications counsel and support as appropriate, at project meetings. Advising on media activity, internal and external communications strategies and tactics, as appropriate
  • The role holder will liaise with community relations agencies (where appointed)and external partners, making sure that Uniper’s corporate reputation is protected at all times.
  • You will work closely with the UK Communications Manager, Public Affairs advisor and other functional leads to ensure that the company’s position and key messages are appropriately reflected in project messaging.
  • In this role you will manage and build project website pages for the projects being worked on and ensure consistency with other Uniper pages and also the Consultation portal.
  • Working as part of a wider communications team, you may be asked to provide out-of-hours and crisis communications support, as necessary,  and cover the Press Office if required.
 

 

Your profile


  Essential

 

  • Significant project communication and PR experience, including strategic planning and delivery of communication plans
  • Experience of managing the external and internal communication aspects of planning applications
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal - with good attention to detail and the ability to translate and communicate complex information
  • Able to confidently work independently and rely on own initiative, drawing on own extensive communications experience
  • Excellent relationship building skills, and stakeholder management skills and demonstrable influencing skills with experience of dealing with colleagues at all levels
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure and to manage change diplomatically
  • Proven ability to manage concurrent deadlines and priorities
  • Exceptional team player

Desirable:

  • Energy industry and/or Utility experience desired
  • Experience of working within a matrix organisation
  • Issue and crisis management experience
  • Relevant degree such as Communications studies or English
